Investment Options

Under the Internal Revenue Code, there are limited types of investment vehicles that may be used to fund a 403(b) or 457(b) Plan. In addition, participants are limited to approved providers listed in the Plan document.

Eligible Investment Vehicles

  • Annuity contracts
  • Mutual funds held in a custodial arrangement

Approved Vendors Only

Employers may limit the number of vendors offering investments. Vendors should be willing to enter into an information sharing agreement with the plan sponsor so the employer can meet its administrative responsibilities.
